Prominent Massachusetts Doctor Accused of Drunk Driving After Serious Car Crash.

Dr. Kristin Lynes Howard, a 56 year-old emergency medical physician at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs. This was after Howard caused a car crash that resulted in the hospitalization of a 78 year-old man from Wellesley, MA.

The motor vehicle accident occurred on Friday, November 9, outside a Wellesley supermarket.

Surveillance footage shows Howard’s motor vehicle speeding out of the parking lot and through a barrier before the auto crash. Howard then crashed into the side of one motor vehicle and knocked it into a passing truck.

Police say that Howard had prescribed herself drugs and was also drunk at the time of the motor vehicle crash.  Howard apparently blames the auto accident on a mechanical malfunction in her car and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Newton-Wellesley Hospital reported that it has relieved Howard of her duties.
