Their injuries were non-life threatening, however, and both men are expected to recover. Police have not yet found the cause of the motor vehicle accident, but according to wcvb.com, they have charged Dacostatavares with a marked lanes violation, operating under the influence of liquor, and motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation. If Dacostatavares is found to have been drunk or otherwise negligent in the auto accident, he may be held accountable in a civil lawsuit for the injuries that resulted from the accident, including the wrongful death of Tavares.
