Motorcycle Collision Tragically Leads to Death of Father and Son.

There is a great deal of freedom that comes with riding a motorcycle. This freedom does not come without its elements of risk, however, and many motorcyclists forget how exposed they are while traveling on their bikes at high speeds on our roads. This is, perhaps, why motorcyclists make up a disproportionately large percentage of all of the serious injuries on the roads of Massachusetts. Specifically, the lack of protection makes bikers especially vulnerable, when compared to other drivers. Similar to those riding bicycles, this lack of protection, in theory requires motorcyclists to be afforded a greater degree of care by other motorists.

A father recently was riding his motorcycle in Quincy, MA with his eight-year-old son on Ricciuti Drive. They were riding along, enjoying themselves, when they were struck by an oncoming dump truck. While the truck driver sustained no personal injuries, the father and son were severely harmed. Tragically, both father and son were later declared dead at the Boston Medical Center and the Quincy Medical Center, respectively. Both were wearing their helmets. Police have yet to find the precise cause of the collision, and the investigation is ongoing.

Despite being able to travel at the high rates of speed of a car, motorcycles offer none of the same protections, leaving drivers incredibly vulnerable to serious injuries, or sadly, as in this case, wrongful deaths.

If you have been injured in a motorcycle accident, you may be entitled to substantial compensation for your physical injuries, as well as any emotional trauma and other financial hardship caused by the accident. This can include getting your past and future medical bills paid, money damages for your pain and suffering, cash for your lost wages, and spousal compensation for your serious injuries. There is generally a three year statute of limitations that restricts the amount of time that a motorcycle accident victim has to settle a claim or file a lawsuit. So please contact one of our expert personal injury lawyers immediately. We will work tirelessly on your case to see that you are justly and fairly compensated. Call us 24/7 at 617-787-3700 or email us at info@gilhoylaw.com for your free and private consultation. Your needs are our top priority!
