{"id":937,"date":"2015-07-13T16:18:40","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T16:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bostonmacaraccidentlawyers.com\/blog\/?p=937"},"modified":"2015-07-13T16:18:40","modified_gmt":"2015-07-13T16:18:40","slug":"defective-takata-air-bag-entices-wrongful-death-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bostonmacaraccidentlawyers.com\/blog\/defective-takata-air-bag-entices-wrongful-death-lawsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Defective Takata Air Bag Entices Wrongful Death Lawsuit."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In our consumer-driven economy, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/gilhoylaw.com\/boston-massachusetts-defective-product-injury-lawyers-attorneys.php\">product liability lawsuits<\/a><\/em><\/strong> are very common.\u00a0 <strong>Consumers have the right to hold companies accountable for ensuring that their products are safe and reliable.<\/strong>\u00a0 A person must prove four things in order to be successful in a product liability lawsuit.\u00a0 First, the consumer must prove that he\/she has been injured.\u00a0 Second, they must prove that the product involved was somehow defective or lacked proper instructions or warnings.\u00a0 Third, the consumer must prove that the product defect was the direct cause of his\/her injuries.\u00a0 Finally, he\/she must prove that when they were injured, they were using the product in the manner in which it was intended to be used.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vzResghV3g0\" width=\"400\" height=\"280\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kylan Langlinais died on April 9<sup>th<\/sup> when her car crashed into a utility pole in Lafayette, Louisiana.\u00a0 <strong>Upon impact, Langlinais\u2019s air bag exploded, but with too much force.\u00a0 Shrapnel ejected from the airbag and punctured Langlinais\u2019s right carotid artery, causing her death.<\/strong>\u00a0 Several doctors did exploratory surgery and concluded that the injury from the exploding air bag directly caused her death, as she had no other injuries.\u00a0 Langlinais\u2019 mother received a recall notice from Honda in connection with the airbags just two days after her daughter\u2019s <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/gilhoylaw.com\/boston-massachusetts-auto-car-accident-injury-lawyers-attorneys.php\">car accident<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to KOIN6, Langlinais\u2019s mother filed a <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/gilhoylaw.com\/boston-massachusetts-wrongful-death.php\">wrongful death lawsuit<\/a><\/em><\/strong> against Honda and Takata claiming that the two companies covered up the air bag defect for more than ten years. \u00a0<strong>In May, Tanaka finally recalled 33.8 million air bag inflators, after much pressure from the government. <\/strong>\u00a0This was the largest auto recall in United States history.\u00a0 Although the company is still trying to determine the cause of the defect, it is possible that the ammonium nitrate used to inflate the air bags caused chemical burns\u00a0that blew up the canister designed to contain the blast.
