If a driver is negligent or reckless on the road, the results can be tragic. Car accidents can cause victims severe and life-threatening injuries. If injuries sustained in a car accident are casually linked to the negligence or recklessness of a driver, the victim may be entitled to sue the driver for money damages. The damages are for such things as pain and suffering and medical expenses.
On January 27, 2015, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21, was driving in Marietta, Georgia when her car crashed into the car of Russell Eckerman, 41. Eckerman has filed a lawsuit against Brown for $730,000 for medical expenses and other damages. According to the lawsuit, Brown was speeding and tailgating another car when she lost control of her 2005 Jeep Liberty and swerved into oncoming traffic. It was then that she allegedly collided with Eckerman’s Ford Taurus. According to a police report, Brown’s car swerved because a rear tire had been punctured by a nail.
According to a witness, Brown immediately jumped out of her car and ran toward Eckerman to find out his condition. Eckerman was bleeding from his head and did not have a pulse. He was revived on scene and subsequently taken to North Fulton Hospital. He remained in critical condition for several days.
Brown is the daughter of R&B singer Bobby Brown. According to the New York Daily News, she is currently in a coma for reasons that are unrelated to this lawsuit. Therefore, Eckerman has filed the lawsuit against Brown through her guardians, who include her father and her aunt, Pat Houston. The Ford Motor Company is another named defendant in the case. Eckerman alleges that the airbag in his car failed to deploy properly and that the seatbelt in his car was defective.
