Syracuse Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim Involved In Fatal Car Crash.

Car crashes are among the most injury-causing events in the world. This prevalence is due to a number of factors, including the amount of force that cars exert when they collide, human error (such as driving while drunk or distracted), and the sheer number of people that drive great distances every day. As a society, we work very hard to try and limit the number of car accidents that occur, be it through training or through laws. While such avenues may have produced limited success, the fact of the matter is people still drive their vehicles negligently and as a result cause personal injury to others. In such a situation, it would be wise to contact an expert car accident attorney at 617-610-2092.

Just one night after the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team won an upset victory over the higher ranked Louisville Cardinals, Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim was involved in a car accident that took the life of Jorge Jimenez, a 51-year-old New York resident. According to police reports, shortly before the fatal accident, Jimenez lost control of his vehicle, which held another unidentified passenger, and crashed into a guard rail on the side of the highway. Jimenez got out of his vehicle and walked along the side of the highway. Shortly thereafter, Jim Boeheim, who was driving along the same highway, struck and killed Mr. Jimenez.

Initial field reports have indicated that neither Boeheim nor the unidentified passenger had consumed any alcohol prior to the crash. Police reports also suggest that Boeheim was driving an appropriate speed along the highway. As of now, it is unclear whether the family of Mr. Jimenez will pursue legal action, but all the factors apparently suggest that Boeheim was not negligent while driving his vehicle.
