Red Sox Pitcher, Drake Britton, Arrested in Florida on Suspicion of Drunk Driving.

Drake Britton, a 23 year-old left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, was arrested in Fort Myers, Florida this past Saturday March 2 on multiple charges, including drunk driving.

Britton, who was vying for a spot in the Red Sox major league bullpen this upcoming season, was clocked going 111 mph according to the police officer who pulled him over. Britton was driving a black Chevy Silverado pickup truck. He was apparently traveling over twice the legal speed limit of 45 mph.

According to the police, Britton attempted to elude police by swerving between vehicles, before he veered off the road and knocked over a barbed-wire fence.

Upon encountering Britton, police noted that he was slurring his speech, had bloodshot and watery eyes, and had a strong scent of alcohol.

Florida police arrested Britton and charged him with driving under the influence, speeding, drunk driving property damage and reckless driving.
