After a violent motor vehicle collision in San Diego, California between a police car and a motorcycle, the motorcyclist has died from the resulting personal injuries.
On the evening of November 18, 2013, a police car collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of Balboa Avenue and Mount Everest Boulevard. After the motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead soon after arrival. The motorcyclist was a 62 year-old man named Mark Griffin McCaffrey. Paramedics were called to the scene and rushed the motorcyclist to the hospital. While a full autopsy has not yet been performed, the suspected cause of death is blunt force trauma.
The police car allegedly had its siren and lights on just before the auto crash occurred. The officer was driving westbound when he received a call that required him to turn in the opposite direction. As he was making a U-turn, he collided with the motorcyclist. The intersection itself was known to be dangerous. Witnesses to the motor vehicle accident are still very shaken up from seeing McCaffrey’s tragic wrongful death.
