A single-car rollover crash occurred this past Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in Brockton, Massachusetts at the intersection of North Quincy Street and Boundary Avenue just before 9:00 p.m.
This intersection was the site of a previous Brockton auto crash that resulted in three wrongful deaths back in August of this year. The August car accident involved two vehicles colliding and resulted in the deaths of Kathryn Cushman and Betty Marini at the scene of the accident. Robert Cushman, Kathryn’s husband, was injured so severely that he later died in a hospital due to the personal injuries sustained in the car crash.
Emergency responders made it to the scene of Tuesday’s motor vehicle accident at 9:05 p.m. when they learned that a car had crashed and rolled over on the road. The vehicle had three occupants at the time of the crash. According to Brockton Police Sergeant Tracy Harrington, both passengers and the driver were all ejected from the car. All the occupants were adults.
21 year-old Kaitlyn Rastellini was transported to the emergency room at the Signature Health Care Brockton Hospital, and then airlifted to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston for more extensive treatment. Sadly however, Rastellini did not survive and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Beth Israel. The two others injured in the car accident were taken to the South Shore Hospital trauma center with serious personal injuries. Both are expected by the doctors to survive.
Harrington stated that speed may have been a factor in the car accident, but the investigation is still underway. Police and the state accident reconstruction team stayed at the scene until nearly 4:00 a.m.
Brockton has recently agreed to do a road safety audit after locals have petitioned for the installation of a traffic light at the dangerous intersection.
