When you get into the driver’s seat, there are a couple of things that you should take into consideration.  The first thing is your own physical and mental condition.  Your ability to drive is predicated by how you feel and how your body can handle the challenge of driving responsibly.  The second important step is to analyze the condition of your vehicle.  The slightest imperfection in your car or truck can spell disaster on the open road.  Lastly, you should know the conditions of the road before you begin your trip.  Elements of rain, sleet and snow provide an added challenge to the task of driving.  Extreme weather conditions can be the difference between a healthy life and a fiery car wreck on the side of the road.

On Monday, December 22, 2014, a minivan driven by 39-year-old Jason Lininger was headed northbound on I-65 in Indiana.  The Wisconsin native and his family were headed home to celebrate the holidays.  At around 5:30 pm, a BMW came speeding up behind the Lininger’s minivan. Evidently, the driver of the BMW was impatient, and the BMW began to speed past the Lininger’s on the right hand side.  However, a large pool of water extended over the right lane of the highway, and the BMW driver did not see it.  The car hit the water and began hydroplaning over the surface.  The driver lost control and his car hit the back of the Lininger’s minivan.  Both cars spun out of control, but the BMW passengers suffered the worse fate.  The BMW flipped several times and landed upside down on the side of I-65.  The driver was killed and a passenger had to be air-lifted to a nearby hospital.

Thankfully, no one in the Lininger family was seriously injured in the accident.  Aside from several bumps and bruises, they were unharmed.  They did, however, admit to being shaken up after the tragic accident.
