William E. Burgess, 26, of Providence, Rhode Island, has been charged with drunk driving after he got into an auto accident on Route 95 in Pawtucket with two small children, ages 4 and five, in his car.
Burgess was charged with driving while intoxicated late Wednesday, March 19, 2014, after police responded to several 911 calls about the accident and arrived to discover Burgess, with two small children in his vehicle. Burgess’ blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit, as it was measured at 0.23 to 0.24 percent. He was not wearing his seatbelt and the children’s booster seats were not installed properly. Fortunately, the children only sustained minor injuries, but they were taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and subsequently released to their mother.
