Connor Forsythe, of Hope, Rhode Island, has been criminally charged with driving under the influence resulting in death, after fatally striking a pedestrian with his vehicle on Interstate 95 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in a tragic car accident.
Rhode Island State Police say that Forsythe hit the man in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 27, 2013, while the victim, whose name has not been released, was walking in the center lane of Interstate 95 South. The man was then knocked into the path of another motor vehicle and struck again. Police received several calls from motorists at around 4:40 a.m., who reported that the man was lying on the highway. Police also received a call from another driver who said he believed he had struck debris on the highway.
When emergency responders arrived, they found the man dead at the scene of the drunk driving accident.
Forsythe, who the police allege was drunk when he struck the victim, is being held in custody by police until his bail hearing.
